A slogan by any other name would be as memorable. Tips of writing a good slogan.

Slogan, tag-line, payoff line.  Call it what you want, is yours working for your brand?

Here are some of the all time greatest slogans, do you know what they are?

Vorsprung Durch Tecknik
Just Do it!
Finger Licking Good
Let your Fingers do the walking.
Watalotigot
Some things money cant buy, for everything else there's...
Life's Good
Snap Crackle Pop
Once you pop you cant stop
I'm Loving It!

Here are my 3 tips and things to bear in mind when coming up with a Tag-line.

1. Make the pay-off line catchy and memorable:
Ok, so most of the above slogans are now stuck in your head, that is the goal and outcome of a good slogan, but how do you make your slogan stick?  Here are some of the most effective ways of adding the stick factor:
Alliteration - If you don't know what that is, them please kindly leave the bog and go play with a sharp knife in the corner.
Made up words - using a new, clever and fun word can be a very good way of making a memorable slogan if you get it right.   Think about Watalotigot, well done Smarties.
Puns - Using a pun is a great way of creating humour and making the reader / customer have to think about what you saying, thus making you memorable.

2. Use your brand name, for optimum recall:
The goal of a slogan is to link your brand to the customer, so you want a sentence or word to recall your brand in the audiences mind.  If you can, try to use the brand name in the slogan.  SAB Miller did this well with "Its Miller Time!"

3. Benefits over features:
Focus and highlight the company or product benefits and traits over an USP feature.  Audi, doe this with Vorsprung Durch Tecknik.  This tells me Audi is using advanced technology to build ALL their cars.  This also helps tug on the emotions of people and not like you selling them on the details of the company.

Good Slogans all:
Work with your logo
Motivate to buy.
Should be short and to the point
Be memorable and catchy
Work when written and said out loud
Capture attention and imagination
Differentiate you from your competitors

I hope this helps you write a memorable pay-off line that will be around for 20 years.
